Global.me

Global.me is an educational project launched by AIESEC aimed at increasing socio-political awareness among the Finnish youth by promoting diversity, tolerance, intercultural communication and alternative education. The aim of the global.me project is to help young Finns to understand the global world and themselves.

This is done by bringing students from all around the world to run a course for high school students from small towns in the spring of 2010. 12 trainees will be chosen to come to Finland to bring their knowledge, experience and passion to create 3 months of international environment, discussions on global issues, and present the beauty of the world’s diversity.

The project also provides the high schools with an opportunity to develop their teaching methods.

Objectives of the project:

  • Give the participating students a better understanding of the world
  • Develop new educational methods and widen the variety of subjects in small town high schools
  • Deliver high quality traineeship for 12 interns from abroad
  • Offer a learning experience for the project team
  • Gain positive visibility for AIESEC and partner companies

 

How I can participate?

 

TEAMS

 

 Content

  • What? You can help in planning the content of the high school course together with the trainees and experts. You can also take part in organising the training for the trainees before the course starts.
  • Why? You can gain know-how on how to build and run sessions, develop your creativity, improve your communication skills and learn from experts.

 

Trainees

  • What? You can be part of the team who selects suitable trainees for the project and welcomes them to Finland. The trainees team also helps with practical issues, organises spare time activities and supports the learning of the trainees.
  • Why? You gain cross-cultural communication and social skills, experience in organizing events, learn more about different cultures, develop your personal network and enjoy diversity.

 

Sales

  • What? You could contact possible partners for the project, help develop a media plan for the project and carry it out in practice.
  • Why? You can develop your negotiation, selling and communication skills, get personal contacts in the business world and gain a deeper understanding about various fields.

 

Schools

  • What? You can be one of the schools’ contact persons and help ensure and ease the communication between the trainees, schools and the other teams.
  • Why? You can improve your communication and coordination skills and develop your network.
