Leadership Role
Develop your leadership skills
Leadership is an integral part of AIESEC’s foundation. We aim to influence the society positively by developing and supporting the skills of our members and helping them to discover their true potential. The theories and concepts learned on courses are meaningless unless you get to apply them in practice. For this AIESEC offers annually over 5000 leadership positions around the world.
In Jyväskylä, ten future leaders get to try out their wings annually. These positions are divided between administration, leading teams and managing projects of more limited duration. AIESEC is a very unique organisation, because it is the only global organisation run entirely by students.
This means that to those interested in leadership, the doors are open not just to the local committee or the national AIESEC Finland member committee, but also to all its member countries and to the highest decision-making body, AIESEC International!
It is not an overstatement to say that nowhere else will you get a similar opportunity to execute your ideas and try your limits. The skills and networks developed in organisational activity are solid currency in practical working life, as our alumni always say when we interview them.
So, how to get involved?
Through the introduction period and teamwork you receive the essential basic knowledge about the organisation that you need in your task. We offer our zealous members, who don’t flinch from responsibility, many challenging missions. Regardless of your years of study, major or work experience.
The tasks we provide can be divided as follows:
- The board of AIESEC Jyväskylä is both a decisive and an executive body. The management tasks provide an opportunity to lead teams of 3-10 people and reforming the strategic plans of the organisation. The team leaders are chosen for the whole term.
- Every year we organize a few large projects and many smaller ones. They vary in duration and difficulty. In our most demanding projects you manage quite large wholes and your co-ordinating skills are put through a real test.
- In addition, we offer our members chances to act as mentors to new members and as godparents to our foreign interns.
So take this chance and contact our team leaders. They are happy to tell you more about available possibilities – and accept good ideas concerning possible new projects.
Next we will take a look at the unique AIESEC work abroad programme.
