The process:

1. Surveying needs

  • Through a background check and a conversation with your organisation we can figure out what kind of employees and services AIESEC provides and what kind of learning experiences your organisation can offer the trainee.
  • We investigate the possibilities of carrying out any special requests you might have.
  • Your organisation has the possibility to request a preliminary survey on the candidates available and compare their skills to your criteria.

2. Agreement

  • Your organisation makes an agreement for initiating the process to find the employee with AIESEC Jyväskylä.
  • At this stage we specify detailed requirements for the employee. These can include language skills, field of study, work experience, practical skills, country of origin and the starting-and ending dates for the employment period.
  • The required criteria can be specified with precision, and then base the search on these criteria.
  • An accurate description of the position offered by your organisation and its requirements is also set up.
  • Flexible criteria improves your chances of finding an employee of the desired type. For this reason the criteria are always formulated together with a representative of AIESEC Jyväskylä.
  • After filling out the contract the information on the position is input into AIESEC:s worldwide database. At this stage AIESEC:s administrative costs are collected (600-1200e depending on the type of the trainee).

3. Searching for an employee

  • The AIESEC-database has detailed information on the applicants who have been accepted to the traineeship programme.
  • The traineeship personnel of AIESEC Jyväskylä search the database for applicants who best fulfill the criteria and invite them to a preliminary interview.
  • Applicants interested in an organisation may also initiate contact.
  • The aim is to find the suitable employee candidates in two months from signing the contract.
  • AIESEC Jyväskylä preselects 1-3 suitable employee candidates for Your final selection with the necessary information. (CV, application letter, academic background, and contact information for the potential interview.)

4. Choosing the employee

  • Your organisation has 8 days to look at the candidates and either accept, decline or request for additional time to consider. For the duration, the candidates commit themselves primarily to Your organisation.
  • We recommend that a representative of your organisation interviews the candidates via email, phone or video conference if possible.

5. Arriving to Finland

  • AIESEC Jyväskylä arranges a work permit, a visa and other necessary documents for the employee. We also arrange for an apartment, taxation- and banking matters as well as the travel tickets.
  • The employer and the employee form a standard work contract. The salary must cover the basic living expenses in Finland. The recommended minimum net salary is 1200e/month.
  • Apart from the working environment, the organisation doesn’t need to worry about the practical arrangements of the traineeship.

6. AIESEC’s participation during the traineeship period

  • The trainees are equal members of AIESEC. Therefore they are entitled to certain benefits in Finland. AIESEC Jyväskylä supports the trainees during the entire period providing them with a personal tutor, a social network and the possibility to participate in the local events of our organisation.
  • We familiarize the employee with Finnish culture and guide them through everyday routines. In events of difficulties we aim to function as a safety net for the trainee. In doing so we support the employee’s adaptation to Finland and guarantee a functional worker for your company.

7. Feedback and developing the service

  • AIESEC aims to develop the services and the process. We stay in contact with your organisation during the traineeship and make a questionnaire about it both in the beginning and the end of the period. Based on the feedback, we develop our service even further.

AIESEC co-operates with CIMO, the centre of international mobility, working under the education ministry. Useful information about hiring an international trainee can be found in CIMO’s guide for employers. Information on the TEL-fees and social expenses can be found here.
