History
AIESEC was founded after the Second World War to enhance international understanding through a student work abroad program. The founding countries were Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Holland and France.
Today AIESEC operates in 107 countries and in 1700 faculties of higher education. There are more than 38 000 students involved, making AIESEC the biggest student driven organisation in the world.
The abbreviation AIESEC and its founding history refer to economics, but our activities today are wide-spread and cross-disciplinary. The versatility in the backgrounds of our members guarantees various perspectives and challenges.
AIESEC’s ideology is to promote “peace and fulfilment of humankind’s potential”. The idea is that through trainee exchange and events organized by AIESEC people will understand each other better, and international co-operation increases.
Nowadays we also aim at activating leadership. The intention is to help people to find the ways to make it possible to reach financial goals without compromising ethical and ecological values.
